Millions of people in the UK cannot cope with day-to-day financial events, are not planning for their retirement, and are in financial difficulties.

The UK Financial Capability Strategy aims to tackle this problem by helping people take control of their money. To do this, we need to understand what works best to support financial capability, use this evidence to improve what we do and target our funding at effective interventions.

We need high-quality, accessible research and evaluation to help us achieve these aims, so researchers and evaluators have a crucial role to place and this site contains a range of resources to support you.

How can this site help?

  • Understand levels of financial capability across the UK population, learn about the key drivers of financial capability, and use our segmentation model through our insight research.
  • Use our Outcomes Frameworks and Questions Banks to measure changes in people’s financial capability outcomes, and use the wider evaluation guidance and templates in our Evaluation Toolkit.
  • Build your understanding about financial capability, what works to influence it, and different approaches to evaluating the effectiveness of interventions, our Evidence Hub.
