Commenting on the news from the Department for Work and Pensions that more than 15 million people now have the security of a workplace pension, Jackie Spencer, Pensions expert at the Money Advice Service, said:
“We welcome this news from DWP. Thanks to the workplace pension scheme, huge numbers of people across the UK now have improved security ahead of their retirement.
“Being financially prepared for the end of your working life is vitally important and the benefits of the workplace pension has set the foundations for a financially secure retirement for millions.
“However, the gap in terms of people who are adequately prepared for their retirement still exists. A cross-sector approach by guidance bodies, policy makers and the public and private sectors is essential if we are to see the positive trend in pension saving continue.”
